CAREER
SPECIALTY

I'm an artist, a mom, a Buddhist, and a psychotherapist. These aspects of my life have helped me support others in their healing process for the past 10 years. I've created the Studio to be a space where we can gather to 'walk each other home' on our journeys of self development. I believe that easing suffering is my purpose in life, so please contact me if you could use some support.

I grew up raising cattle and riding horses in a very small town in the rural mountains of Northwestern Arkansas. I obtained my Bachelor Degrees in Psychology and Studio Art, then a Masters Degree in Social Work, from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock where I now teach part time. Art is a huge part of my life, my own mental health, and my work with others. I went into Psychology and  Social Work because I have a passion for fighting for justice and improving systems. I try to stay active working for as many social issues as I can.

Professionally, I am most interested in helping women with big emotions. I have experience working with a range of mental health issues and continue to treat Veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and other issues in the Mental Health Clinic at the VA. I am an Adjunct Professor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and teach both a Dialectical Behavior Therapy course in the Masters of Social Work program as well as a course in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I have extensive experience, training, and expertise in these two types of evidence based therapies as well as in Mindfulness Meditation.

In my private practice at The Studio I specialize in Dialectical Behavior Therapy which is particularly useful treating Borderline Personality Disorder and highly sensitive people. I have found my best work, and my purpose in this field, is in helping sensitive women. My value is in my extensive training and experience in this area. I have had specialized education and work experience with DBT and have found it incredibly helpful for those with self harm behaviors, suicidal thoughts, or emotion regulation issues.

I am currently training for a certificate in Maternal Mental Health from Postpartum Support International. I am also the state's only "Bringing Baby Home" Educator. This is a program designed by the Gottmans (leaders in the field of couples therapy) that helps new parents maintain their relationship (and sanity) after the addition of a new baby. I offer Bringing Baby Home workshops the first weekend of every month.

So, that's the short version of who I am and how I might be able to help. If you need support please contact me. If you're one of the tribe you should get in touch and we'll walk the journey together.
